At the waterhole next to the main lodge and the guest bungalows you can
already enjoy the abundance of game of the lodge - when the animals regularly
gather there and this amazing spectacle is even visible in the dark as the
area is illuminated during the evening and night.
These experiences are complemented on the daily game drives and walking safaris in the bush. On those game drives and walking safaris you will encounter big herds of eland, mountain zebra, common duiker, waterbuck, kudus, impala, steenbuck, black wildebeest, South African red hartebeest, klipspringer; you will be able to calmly observe giraffes, come across the tiny Damara Dik Diks, watch baboons play, see warthogs eagerly dig for roots and jackals hide in the dense bush. With a little patience you will even discover cheetahs and leopards. During the rainy season Gabus Game Ranch also turns into a paradise for ornithologists. Hence, the statistics of rare aquatic birds, wild geese and wild ducks has its own way of expression.
During the rainy season rare aquatic birds and wild geese come to the natural
waterholes of the farm and migrate again in the dry season. You hear the
chirp of rare bird species and you will not want to miss out on the
musical croaking of frogs during sun set.

The small farm-owned museum is an amazing meeting place - with the past of the Kuehl family which mirrors the region's development of the past century.
The Uisib Mountains are perfect for long walks - numerous trails having been used by man and animals alike ever since lead you into this fascinating natural wild. The stalactite caves on the neighbouring farm represent a rare phenomenon in this land of deserts, Namibia. You can visit them together with a tour guide or on your own. (2-3 hrs). A dailong excursion may take you to see the Hoba Meteorite in the so called Otavi Triangle. This huge object measures three metres and weighs 55 tons and is one of the biggest single meteorites worldwide. About 80 000 years ago this iron bearing (82%) colossus hit the ground and is nowadays a national monument. From here you travel through the tiger gorge with its colourful rock formations. Another highlight is the museum of Tsumeb. This lovingly set up exhibition bears an impressing collection of historical, ethnological and traditional exhibits and rarities from the cultural history of Namibia's black and white population. For this reason, the Tsumeb Museum, too, is a place you should under no circumstances miss out on.(The tour ends after about 6 hours) This also counts for the farm Thonningii where wine is cultivated and pressed, situated not far away in the fertile Grootfontein Valley. This undertaking is a real rarity in Namibia and the wine being produced, a fruity and full-bodied Shiraz, no less. Ostriches are being bred on Thonningii as well, guests are served home-made delicacies and there is always time for a wine tasting with the guests while tame springbuck or impala watch all this from close. (The tour takes about 2-4 hours) The geographical proximity of the Etosha National Park allows the guests of Gabus Game Ranch to visit the park in one day. After all, it is only a one and half hour drive until you are able to spot the first lions and elephants. A sumptuous picnic basket contains all those delicacies which one is used to from Gabus Game Ranch and once you come back in the evening, dinner is waiting for you. All of this is the utmost quality of life and pure joie de vivre for everyone who allows the hosts of Gabus Game Ranch to set up an individual itinerary from all the named details. The fact that this can take up at least five days should not be a problem as Gabus Game Ranch is alone due to its cornucopia of game much more than a common guest farm. Here, emphasis is put on the well being of the guests, not least is this itinerary a proof for it.. Just like the fact that also children are warmly welcome at Gabus. The hosts offer their young guests to fully enjoy romping around, jumping on the trampoline, splashing about in the pool and using the toys and books in the kiddies room. Of course, without the adults feeling disturbed. Everyone is welcome to also spend some time horse riding at Gabus Game Ranch. And this in such a fantastic scenery! For this, the mere thought of such an experience is enough to make one or the other heart beat faster. There would be much more to tell about this idyll, however, it is more exciting and far more attractive to see for yourself so that your visit to Namibia will gain an unexpectedly precious experience. |
