Tribes of Northern and Southern Namibia for 15 days Day 1: Drive via Remhoogte Pass to Solitiare. Arrival in the late afternoon at the Namib Desert Lodge Day 2: In the early morning depart on an excursion to the Sesriem Canyon and Sossusvlei, a large clay pan in the centre to the Namib Desert, surrounded by the highest sand dunes in the world. Arrive round about lunchtime at the Namib Desert Lodge. In the afternoon take part in a dune drive. Dinner/overnight/breakfast at the Hammerstein Lodge.
Continue through the scenic Neisip Plain and drive along the edge of the Namib Desert, e and the Nubib Mountains and the Tiras Mountains to Aus. Dinner/overnight/breakfast at Klein Aus Vista. Day 4: Day visit to Lüderitz, the first German settlement in Namibia, named after the merchant Adolf Lüderitz from Bremen, who bought this area from the Hottentots in 1883. This drive takes you through intriguing moon landscape of endless desert vistas and bizarre rock formations The small harbour town is perched on rugged black rock, offset by the deep blue waters of the bay, and is surrounded by bays, coves and fjords. During the morning visit to the ghost town of Kolmanskop where diamonds were first discovered in Namibia. Afterwards sightseeing in and around Lüderitz and return to Klein Aus Vista. Dinner/overnight/breakfast at the Desert Horse Inn. Day 5: Visit the Fish River Canyon, the second largest canyon in the world. This gigantic ravine, in places almost 500 metres deep, has been gorged out of vast undulating plain in the course of thousands of years. Proceed to Cañon Lodge via Seeheim and Aus. Dinner/overnight/breakfast at the Cañon Lodge Day 6: Drive to Keetmanshoop via the Naute dam then visit the Kokerboom forest (quivertree) and continue to Anib Lodge. Dinner/overnight/breakfast at Anib Lodge. Day 7: Drive from Anib Lodge via Windhoek to Okahandja Lodge. Dinner/overnight/breakfast at Okahandja Lodge. Day 8: After breakfast visit the woodcarvers in Okahandja and the depart for Etosha National park. Dinner/overnight/breakfast at Mushara Lodge. Day 9: Travel through the Eastern part of Etosha Nationalpark. The oryx and many other antelopes prefer this region. West of Okaukuejo is the well known "Sprokieswoud", Phantom or Fairy Forest, the only location where the African Moringa tree grows in a flat area. Lunchpacks en route. Game viewing continues. At the floodlit waterhole wildlife can be viewed throughout the day as well as at night. Dinner/overnight/breakfast Okaukuejo Restcamp. Day 10: Today drive to Kavita Lion Lodge upon arrival you have the option of do a game drive on the farm. Dinner/overnight/breakfast. Day 11: After a leisurely breakfast we will depart for Opuwo. Upon arrival you will have the afternoon at leisure. Dinner/overnight/breakfast. Day 12: Typical Himba settlement will be visited. The Himba, a sub-tribe of the Herero - are nomads who are still living their old tradition and culture. Their cattle is their wealth and so they are roving around the area to feed them. That's why there are several deserted settlements to be seen along the way. A local guide, accompanying the group, will negotiate a visit to a "Kraal" with the headman of the trive and will explain the lifestyle and the culture of the Himba. Afterwards return to Opuwo . Dinner/Overnight/breakfast Opuwo Lodge. Day 13: After early breakfast travel to Outjo and overnight at Outjo. Dinner/Overnight/breakfast Outjo. Day 14: Depart for Windhoek after breakfast afternoon at leisure in Windhoek. Dinner/Overnight/breakfast in Windhoek Day 15: Depart for Hosea Kutako International Airport.
